Bonita - Tulum’s Burger Bar
Amidst the variety of traditional Mexican flavours over the last few weeks in Mexico, sometimes your cravings take a detour, and Bonita Tulum provided that for us. This relaxed burger bar boasts a sheltered terrace, perfect for those occasional tropical showers.
The double smash, bacon replaced with a fried egg
Bonita‘s menu consists of various burgers: beef, smashed, battered fish, veggie, and more. Accompanying these are a selection of chips and a side of homemade sauces.
The Classico
Our experience was a mix: while the burgers satisfied our craving, with Zaeem devouring the double smash and me, the Classico, they could have benefited from some sauces to elevate the burgers.
A word on the habanero fries: while we hoped for a Mexican twist, the unexpected black powder garnish didn’t resonate with the anticipated habanero flavour or topping in general. However, the house dips were a delightful touch.

The chips were a slight hiccup in our meal, with a few on the colder side and some tasting stale.
While Bonita’s prices lean towards the higher side for a laid-back Mexican eatery, it still quenched our burger thirst.
