Neighbourhood Café - Belfast
Our Rating: ★ | £ (worth a visit if you’re around )
Located in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, Neighbourhood café is a brilliant place to stop as you’re exploring the city.
Having reopened in 2022 following a fire at its original location, Neighbourhood Café offers delicious coffees and brunch options in a quaint, picturesque part of the city.
Our experience
The outside of the café is charming, inviting you in with its quaint and picturesque appearance. However, the interior presents a stark contrast.
The café has an almost canteen-like ambience, plain white walls, and a generally loud atmosphere. Despite this, the window seat offers a pretty view, providing a small oasis within the bustling space.
Their menu boasts a range of exciting options. We tried the Festive Hash, which was decent but could have benefited from a more generous portion of chicken.
The Bacon Naan, despite being somewhat undercooked, was quite enjoyable overall. (Zaeem has a high standard when rating naan).
Our highlights were their hot chocolates. These were exceptionally tasty, striking the perfect balance of sweetness and richness. While the spices used were mild, they added a pleasant warmth to the drink.
The toasted marshmallow topping was a delightful addition, enhancing the hot chocolate with its gooey sweetness and adding a touch of indulgence to the experience.
In summary, Neighbourhood Café offers a mixed bag of experiences. The exterior charm and delightful hot drinks are high points, but the interior ambience and some aspects of the food could use improvement.
We wouls say it’s a great place to stop off at whilst exploring Belfast, but not worth a special journey just to eat there.
