Smash N Bird, Portrush – A Must-Try for Burger Lovers

During our latest trip to Portrush, we grabbed a takeaway from Smash N Bird, and it did not disappoint. They also have locations in Derry and Cookstown, but this was our first time trying their food – and we’ll definitely be back.

We ordered The Colonel’s Burger, The Drunken Burger, and a portion of chips.

The Colonel’s Burger (£10) – If you love KFC, this is the burger for you. The chicken fillet was huge, juicy, and packed with flavour, with that signature crispy coating. The gravy was rich and tasty – an extra pot for dipping (£3) would have been perfect.
The Drunken Burger (£10) – This one was a winner too. Two perfectly cooked smash patties, juicy and full of flavour, with crispy onions adding a great texture. Well-balanced, not greasy, and incredibly satisfying. The patties were not overcooked, which is always a risk when trying a new place.
Chips – The only letdown. They weren’t terrible, but they lacked that fresh, crispy edge. Takeaway chips are always a bit hit-or-miss as they don’t travel well, so we’d love to try them fresh next time.

Overall thoughts

Smash N Bird also does dirty fries and topped mash, which sound amazing so we’ll definitely be back to give those a go.

If you’re in Portrush and craving a proper burger, Smash N Bird is 100% worth a visit. The burgers were excellent, the portions were generous, and the flavours were spot on. Highly recommended!
