Bar Crispin - Soho, London

Our Rating: ★★ | ££££ - Perfect for a date night (How we rate restaurants)

Nestled on a vibrant Soho street, Bar Crispin is a snug and stylish spot that feels effortlessly sophisticated yet wonderfully relaxed. Its intimate setting makes it a prime candidate for a special date night or a memorable pre-theatre dinner.

We sampled a variety of small plates that showcased the kitchen’s seasonal ethos:

  • Toklas sourdough, cultured butter

  • Crispy polenta, aioli, parmesan

  • Fried prawn sando, chilli, crab mayo (most popular)

  • Aged beef tartare, crumpet

  • Charred red mullet, collard greens, fish glaze, beurre blanc

  • Mussels, spiced shellfish sauce, crispy potato puffs

Everything was delicious. The polenta was packed with flavour and delightfully crunchy, and the fish dishes came with rich sauces that we mopped up with the sourdough from Toklas (one of our favourite bakeries).

The tartare was packed with creamy flavour, and the drinks were top-notch notch, too (although there is no glass of wine under £10, so the bill can add up quickly!)

We would come back here for sure; it’s a perfect spot for a date night or for dinner before going to the theatre (which is what we were doing), and the intimate setting gives it a lovely vibe.

The staff are very friendly too!
