Berenjack - London

Our Rating: ★★ | ££ - It’s a brilliant, but expensive kebab

Berenjak in London seamlessly blends authentic Iranian flavours with a cosy and inviting atmosphere.

They have 2 locations in Borough Market and Soho and we went to the Borough Market restaurant for a counter-top lunch.

Berenjak's counter seating adds an interactive element to the dining experience, allowing you to witness the preparation of their food while soaking in the ambient Iranian music and decor.

For starters, we had some Barbari (flatbread) with velty smooth hummus and an incredibly deep, smokey and flavourful aubergine dip called Mirza Ghasemi.

For our main, we shared a Koobideh Kebab (lamb) and some house rice.

The kebab was exceptionally juicy and flavorful, showcasing the kitchen's ability to execute traditional dishes with finesse. The rice complemented the meat with its rich texture and taste. It was oily, but not in a bad way.

The service at Berenjak was great with attentive staff ensuring everything was going well.

We think Berkenjak is a good restaurant, but, at the end of the day, you are getting an expensive kebab for the portion you get. You’ll come here for an amazingly tasty meal but if you want to leave full then you’re going to have to spend a lot more.

It’s worth noting though, that the lunch menu offers better value at £30 for a starter, main and side.

In summary, Berenjak is a delightful spot in London for those looking to explore Iranian cuisine. Its combination of delicious food, engaging atmosphere, and excellent service makes it a must-visit for both locals and tourists alike.
