Explore the Island on an ATV

The best way to explore Milos is by renting an ATV. Due to the island's rugged terrain, an ATV will get you to more secluded beaches and scenic spots than a car would. Plus, driving around on an ATV is an adventure in itself. It's incredibly fun and adds excitement to your travels.

For couples or longer journeys, opt for a more powerful ATV (450cc), as smaller 150cc quads, although cheaper, might struggle on steeper roads (and there are plenty of those).

Visit the Beaches

You're likely coming to Milos primarily for its breathtaking beaches. Among numerous amazing spots, our 3 favourites spots were:

  • Sarakiniko Beach: Stunning white cliffs and lunar landscapes.

  • Tsigrado Beach: Secluded and accessible via a rope ladder, a bit adventurous and a must visit.

  • Fyriaplaka Beach: Long stretch of golden sand and clear turquoise waters.

Other beaches that we didn’t get to:

  • Firipodomos beach - Hidden beach and fishing village

  • Plathenia beach - Sandy Beach with a clear view of the sunset going into the water over the horizon where to locals go for sunset

  • Papikinou beach - Long thin stretch of sand with views of sunset and mountains. If you wit for a table at O Hamos you’ll be waiting here

  • Paleochori beach - Meant to be one of the most beautiful beaches on the island

  • Papafragas beach - Beautiful cove with swimming area and arch

  • Agia Kiriaki - Long sandy beach on the south coast

Sunrise or Sunset at Sarakiniko

Sarakiniko Beach deserves its own mention. The beach is famous for its smooth, white volcanic rocks shaped by wind and sea erosion, creating a surreal, lunar-like landscape. It looks magical at sunrise or sunset. To get there, it's just a short drive from Adamas or Plaka—easy by car or ATV.

Bring a picnic, capture incredible Instagram-worthy shots, and soak in the tranquillity.

You can also go over to the popular arch area and cliff jump into the sea below. The arch starts off low and then circles up to a higher section, allowing you to choose how high you want to jump from, depending on how brave you’re feeling!

Savour the Incredible Food

Milos boasts an exceptional dining scene, especially known for fresh seafood and delicious lamb dishes. Most restaurants are delightfully casual yet serve mouthwatering meals. Don’t miss O Hamos and Medusa; these places are must-visits!

Explore the Fishing Towns

Explore picturesque fishing villages like Mandrakia and Klima. These towns are scenic, photogenic, and perfect for capturing memorable holiday snaps. For an authentic experience, consider staying in one of the traditional Syrmata houses along the shoreline.

Catch the Sunset in Plaka

Plaka (Milos’s main town and where most tourists end up in the evenings) offers one of the most stunning sunsets we’ve ever witnessed. Climb up toward the church, grab a takeaway drink on the way up, and watch the sun gently dip below the horizon; it’s truly magical.

Boat Trip to Kleftiko Caves

Book a boat tour to the mesmerising Kleftiko caves. Accessible only by boat, there's no land route to this spectacular part of the island. We joined this incredible Airbnb experience and highly recommend it. The crew was fantastic, food and drinks were plentiful, and the swimming spots were spectacular. Chances are high you'll even spot turtles! Prices range from about €35 for a busier boat to around €170 for a luxurious catamaran experience.

Boutique Hotels in Milos

If you’re into boutique hotels, Milos won’t disappoint. Pollonia is particularly known for its stylish accommodations and upscale atmosphere.

Overall, Milos invites you to relax, unwind, and discover hidden gems at your own leisurely pace. Hop onto your ATV and let the island surprise you!
